Is now a good time to buy collectible firearms?

With all the money chasing black evil looking rifles these days, got me to wondering if the market for collectibles might have softened a bit. Could be a good time to pick up another old lever action or pistol?

On the flip side, I was just about ready to list for sale my unfired BRNO 611 when all this mess began, but now I'm afraid there's not much money remaining in the market for such guns. What's a guy to do?

After listing on backpage for a singular day, I had somebody offer me a LNIB 6" blued 1978 python for my Colt LE 6920 (this AR had a gas-piston conversion by adam arms, magpul furniture, daniel def quad rail.. no optics included, and I wasn't thrilled with the added weight). And when I say LNIB I mean *pristine*, with box, papers, etc.

So I'd say yes, it is indeed an excellent time - but IMHO you'll do better on trades than cashwise, because you'll get the ones in a panic.

Agreed with mikechandler. If you're sitting on prodigous amounts of ammo or a rifle you thought of dumping anyway, now is the time to capitalize on the panic stricken. Actually, you're doing them a service. They'd probably take it to a LGS, get peanuts for it, whereas you are offering them better return on their collectable or classic piece.

I would say most definitely,

This is what I ended up with:

Daniel Defense AR - traded for a 6" Stainless Python
S&W AR - traded for a blued 2 1/2" Colt King Cobra
AMD-65 - traded for a HK P7 w/4 mags
and sold some AR/AK ammo and bought a 4" stainless King Cobra

While certainly not a collectable, I had someone trade me an $800-900 shotgun for a few stripped lowers. I've also had several people transferring used handguns and used bolt action rifles and the prices they are getting them for are pretty good, so it looks like there are deals to be had.

Always wanted a lever action rifle and I ended up gettting 2 - this month at great prices:

1983 Marlin 30-30

1951 Winchester 1894 32 SPL

Yes, great time to get the stuff that is off the anti's radar.

Purchased a CZ-52, holster and ammo for $250, great little shooter, and two new extra mags for $19 each this past weekend.

Just got today a Russian Makarov, with two mags for less than $225 total.

Missed a pair of consecutively serial numbered original Bren 10's for $3,600. Walked away to think about it, check cash and came back to find them gone! Herself is still pissed about it.

If it ain't popular, the deals are there to be had.................(but I guess that is always the case :) )
