I really like puukko-style knives. I have no idea why. I also find them to be very useful and easy to handle.
It's been a while since I added a new knife, so I thought I'd look for a puukko that's a little nicer and more traditional looking than my Mora. I have nothing against the Mora, it's a great knife, but it's not quite different enough.
Probem is, I don't have too much to spend, either.

Any suggestions, anyone?

For about $20 you could buy a blade and bolster from Bens Backwoods and just make your own. It's not too difficult.I've made several and would be glad to help via PM if you want to go that route.

Thanks for the links, everyone. I really like the curly birch on some of those. That, combined with the really high polish on some of the blades, is really doing it for me. Now I just gotta pick one under 4" so I can carry it here in CT.

Under 4 Inches

Ragnar's place again.

Have a look at the Lapin Puukko Catalog.

A few from that page:

The #3024 "Outdoor Knife 90" (3 1/2 inch blade)

The #3029 "Hunting Knife" (3 5/8 inches)

The #3033 "Camping Knife" (3 5/8 inches)

In fact, most of the knives on that page are under four inches.

Also some likely candidates on his Järvenpää page.

I'll be interested in seeing what you wind up choosing.

I would also recommend the DIY puukko knife. All parts, including sheath, can be had for under $40.

I've always purchased my parts & finished Scandi knives from www.ragweedforge.com as well as www.bensbackwoods.com. Both offer good selection, prices and service.

Ordered the medium Järvenpää Lappland Puukko with a stainless blade. Pics when it gets here. Apparently it ships with a very slight secondary bevel, I'll sharpen it out to get a true Scandinavian grind.
