I put a new scope on my 25-06 this past week and finally got a chance on Saturday to try it out on some rockchucks. We got lots of video but hardly any of it was any good. This one however turned out perfect. I sighted in the rifle at 125 yards thinking that I wouldn't be shooting any further than that. The rockchuck in the video was just past 200 yards.

hah, cool video! i must say, that's one stupid critter - bullets whizzing by and blasting rocks, and all he does is walk a foot away!

if you talk too loud a woodchuck around here will be hightailing it away into the underbrush...

Yea, the spotter was nice! What was your hold like on the shot that nailed him?

Yeah we were pretty far away and we had sat there for about 40 minutes already. If they could hear us they weren't worried because we were so far away. The only way we could spot them was through our scopes.

What was your hold like on the shot that nailed him?

Just about 2 inches over his head. You can see in the video that I had my windage correct but I just had to keep inching the elevation up.

How many inches is a Rock Chuck and are they pests

Yes they are pests. They eat hay and they dig holes on people's property for their cows and horses to step in. There is no limit or regulation in Idaho for them because they are in such abundance and they are pests. Their size varies. Anywhere from 3" in diameter all the way up to 6". Atleast thats my guess.

Cool, assumed they were like gophers but couldn't tell for sure. Maybe a polarized filter for the lens could enhance the brown colour?

Bad news is that the one you nailed isn't the one you were shooting at previously. You should name it Saddam, because you got his double. Looks like 3 of them, first goes behind a rock and doesn't come out. #2 is behind the next rock left of #1, but only peeks out a bit. #3, appears to have a tiny bag of popcorn, sitting in the open.

I think it was the same one. I was looking at him through my scope which has a much better magnification and picture. If you listen to the video you will hear the I actually spot him sooner than my bother in law holding the camera. Thats because after I shoot and find the spot again with my scope I can watch everything. I just couldn't tell where I was hitting by looking through the scope.

yeah, we were gonna wait as long as we needed to for him. I went out again yesterday and the misses were very few and far between.
