Got a Bulgarian AK...

It has BY FAR the best fit and finish I've ever seen on an AK. Comparing one of the Century Romanian hack jobs to this rifle is like comparing a Yugo to a Caddy.

It came with only a single 5 round Bulgarian polymer "waffle" mag but WTH, I have a ton of AK mags. Aside from the mag it came with a sling, oil bottle, cleaning kit, cleaning rod, and a nice manual which was signed by the QC inspectors.

My Hesse/Saiga is going to go, I think. It runs good since I replaced the FCG but the SLR is NICE. I'm going to see if I can swap the Saiga to an electrician friend in exchange for some work around the house.

I'm going to try to get it to the range on Sunday. Report to follow.

But be forewarned, some will call you names for daring to say that the Bulgarian milled receiver AK's are better than the stamped variants. I'm looking for a second Bulgie, myself. Another SLR-95 or similar would look quite nice next to my first, and now that the AWB's dead, I have an early Ace Ltd. sidefolder that's ready to install on it.

Amazing how nice they are compared to the rest of the junk out there, isn't it? I suspect you will be pleasantly suprised by the accuracy as well.

Yea, I've owned chinese, hungarian and romanian aks. The hungarian is nice, but the bulgy is in a class by itself. I like it so much, I had to put more money into it than I'll ever get out of it.

My Bulgarian is a good shooter, I made a 2 1/2" 3 shot group @ 100 yards resting on a table kneeling. I bought a Galil (Galil is a copy of a Valmet)parts kit and built a Valmet M-62/76 clone out of it. Even found an original Valmet top cover/rear sight assy. Very good sights, much nicer than the open notch on the barrel, and it has tritium night sights that flip up when needed. The walnut stock may get replaced with the Galil folder at some point. The Galil pistol grip is more comfortable than the regular AK type, being longer and slightly larger diameter.

Arsenal Inc. makes some incredible stuff. They really pay attention to detail. No canted sights here! It came sighted in dead on at 100yd.

Besides the pistol grip and stock, what is the difference between the SLR 101 and the SLR 95 ?

As imported, the slr101 will only accept single stack 5 or 10rd mags. When it gets to arsenal in Nevada it is converted(opened up)to accept double stack hi-cap mags. Any rifle that has the pg conversion done also has the correct US parts count. SLR101 were sold as thumbhole stock single stack, pistol grip single stack and pistol grip double stack.

SLR95 were imported with a thumbhole stock and would accept doublestack mags.
