i know it sounds crazy, but it isn't what ya'll are thinking. my xd just shots so great aall the time, and after a few 100rds or so, you know exactly where it is gonna go, and it looses the cool factor after a while, no fault of the gun by no means. so i had read and seen on the internet people stress test there xd's.
so i decided to see if sand would keep my xd from running. so being on a military range there are sand bags every where, so i poured, and i mean poured sand into the pistol with the slide locked to the rear. i then worked the slide 20 times to get in there, all the right spots!
fired 10rds
more sand
worked the slide 20 times
fired 10rds
more sand
worked the slide 20 times
fored to 5 rd magazines and completed the test.
i wanted to keep going 30rds wasn't enough for me but I had the bright idea toward the end of the session, and will in the future use other paramaters, and foregin objects to test the xd to the fullest.
results:
1)there wasn't a single malfunction, of any kind at all, during the test.
2) but you could tell that there was sand in there, it didn't preform like it normally would but If i had sand in me i bet i wouldn't either,
3) the pistol was a little sluggish, and the sand really slowed down the movement of the slide, but again it still didn't cause any malfunctions.
4) the biggest issue that I encountered was that a time or two i would have to manual rack the slide to load a round after a magazine change occured,. the slide release worked still though but it was tough.
5) on one occasion the magazine, was a little tight and didn't eject with furosity like normal but still came out sans no problamo!
i know it wasn't much but it was god enough for me. and for me this was a drastic thing that I did that I normally wouldn't have but I don't what got into me? it was fun but a pain to get spic and span again.
but now after a hot wash, half a can of gun scrubber alittle strike hold, and lots of patches, q-tips, clp, and g-96 to finish her off it is g2g and back to normal.
