Because of the reviews and the price I was dead set on getting a kel-tec PF9 but after shooting it and a few others I got a Ruger PC9:D. The only things I dont like about the ruger is that the grip on the front is so rough that even with my callused hands it still rubbed them raw and the stupid loaded when up indicator. I think both of these can be easyly fixed. Other than that it feels great and I was hitting a 6 inch spread at ten yards with less than a box through it which is more than enough for me.

Now the questions. Do any of yall recomend a good IWB holster for these? I may get a custom one done here localy but would like options. Also what kinda ammo for sd? I keep federal premium in my .40 and think its pretty good. Is it any good or even offered in 9mm? I bought some winchester pdx1 124gr jhp +p but will not carry it till I have time to run it through the gun to make sure it cycles correctly. Till then Im just carry the magtech that I know it will fire.

sorry for the book.

congrats on your purchase.

When I first started carrying I seemed to think that IWB was the way to go.... and I do carry my LC9 IWB.... but everything else I carry in a regular leather OWB holster. It just works better for me.

Ammo?
What ever gives you the best accuracy and reliability. Every firearm is different. I recommend running at least 50 rounds through to test before carrying. I also try to shoot a box of the carry ammo as much as I can afford. This allows me to consistently test the ammo. For 9mm, I like Remington Golden Sabre, Winchester Ranger, and Hornady XTP.

Remington Golden Saber.

I have a leather Galco walkabout that is very comfy, holds an extra mag. The mouth around the slide is reinforced, but the area around the trigger is not, so if you keep one in the chamber, you'd have to watch the re-holster carefully.

Also have a Smartcarry holster that offers an insane amount of concealment, though not quite as easily accessible as an IWB holster.

No I do mean the PC9 I am very then and just cant really conceal anything much bigger in jeans and a t shirt. Heck this thing prints if I move wrong. I think 8 shots plus an extra 7 right beside it should be just fine. When the winter comes arond I may start carryin a larger gun but till then I think this will do just fine.

Sorry I am an Idiot LC-9 not PC-9. I had been thinking about the PF9 for so long I guess I just combined the two names:banghead:

Again sorry for the confusion but after looking at it I wouldnt mind having a PC9 but your right binary not really a good choice for a ccw

Its easy to get lost in the alphabet soup that is gun names these days, don't worry about it one bit. I'm planning on picking up a ruger for my ccw as well, but as you might have guessed I'm looking at the SR9c instead of the LC9. Don't forget to put a ton of rounds through your new gun, and tell us what you think after the honeymoon.

The best SD ammo recomendations usually comes down to a list of a few preferred brands.

Winchester Ranger Bonded
Winchester Ranger T
Federal HST
Speer Gold Dot
Remington Golden Saber
Hornady Critical Defense
Corbon DPX

There are others that will get the job done. However those are the rounds that most people recomend. I have personally tested the Ranger Bonded in 147gr. I am satisfied with the performance.
