Got my trust setup, now it's time for a couple SBR's...

SBR'ing through my trust two different AR's I have at the same time... and I'm waiting for a Yankee Hill 5.56 to get into the shop so I can do the paperwork on that baby too.

In the mean time, I've got a few days to decide on barrel length for the SBR's - so all you NFA guru's, 10.5 or 7.5? Pros/cons to either?

10.5" if you think you might want a suppressor for it eventually. 7.5" if you want to maximize the noise

I really like the way the 7.5" handles. There will be a lot of comments about all the ballistics you give up with it, but I really enjoy shooting it.


You've got to put one on the form, but you can own both and use on the same lower.

As I understand it, federal law requires at least 30 days notice before a new regulation can become effective. And the ATF is going to have to spend at least a little time responding to the significant comments that they've received during the comment period.

So what are you basing your opinion on?

The wheels turn slowly. It took the ATF 9 years to implement the new regs on bird bombs and that was to implement an Act of Congress!

Perhaps a bit off topic, but what are "bird bombs" and their regs?

Around here they've tried propane powered noise maker canons to shoo away the roosting cow birds (which can make sidewalks underneath hazardous to navigate -- both from falls by slipping or histoplasmosis from breathing the dust).
