I just finnished reading a great book on ballistics. Understanding ballistics : basic to advanced ballistics-- simplified, illustrated, and explained. By Robert A. Rinker. While I have to admit that some of the math used in the book was over my level, I was able to understand all the science despite my Arkansas public education and military training.

There wasn't anything said in the book that was a big surprise but it was an intresting read. Some intresting points in the book is that good terminal ballistics require penetration, expansion, and shot placement in combination. THe best calibers for defense are .45 cal, 10mm, and .357 magnum, and the best defensive shotgun round is #1 buck. I found it funny how according to the math the 9mm and 5.56 shouldn't be effective. Anyways it was a great read.
