I have been loading and shooting a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel for a while putting some 180 rounds through it and modifying it to suit me a bit better. I have played with the 123 AMAX, the SST, the ELD-M (to 2550 fps) and the 140 grain Sierra Gameking(to 2350 fps). The rifle produces groups in the .6 to .7 region regularly. It is light and pretty short. I ordered the heavy barrel version as I am going to have the barrel threaded 5/8x24 for a flash suppressor and later a sound suppressor. Recoil is light, it is not all that loud and it is easy to load for. The magazine release has to be shortened or you will inadvertently drop the magazine sooner or later (sooner) and the stock is too flexible at the forend. The action is smooth and the magazine feeds flawlessly. I plan on replacing the stock and the bottom plastic with whatever bottom metal is coming out for the rifle. If you couldn't take care of most of your deer and hog hunting with this rifle and cartridge then your needs are bordering on specialized.

Rickt300, I had my barrel threaded by Long Rifles, Inc in Sturgis, SD, they did a great job, $125 plus shipping to them. They had to make a special tool for the mini-action but now that's done, turnaround should be minimal.

If you like chassis systems, MDT now offers the LSS for the mini-action.
