This is a Quote from the Rules/TOU Section of a Gun site Message Board that will remain Nameless.
(Keeping it Nameless to avoid problems & most people will know what site it is anyway...)

The Registered Member specifically agrees not to post ads or "Want To Buy" (WTB) ads for "preban" 12 round capacity SOCOM or USP45 magazines, "unrestricted white" magazines for the USP 9mm Expert with 18 round capacity, or USP Expert .40 caliber "white" magazines with 16 round capacity, or any "hicap" magazines for USP Compacts in either 9mm (13 rounds) nor .40 S&W (12 rounds) that are not marked for Law Enforcement or Government Use.

Personaly, I find it somewhat Aggravating that a Gun Site should put such excrement in there rules. (unless they are liberals/AWB supporters)
if i'm not mistaken it ever so slightly infrenges on the right to Freedom of Speech.:uhoh:

Now i'm not flaming anyone, I'm just pointing out that the rule is somewhat preposterous, I once some time ago saw a Topic by a Admin/Mod on the board going as far as Stating that Pre-Ban Goods are "Stollen Millitary Property".:scrutiny:
(I can't find that thread at the moment, but if I do I will add a copy+paste quote from it.)
when I first saw that "Notice" I had no clue what Pre-Ban was, and Luckaly I researced it for mysellf rather than taking any of that nonsence as having any value at all.
if I haddent researched it, and had been gullable enough to belleve it, that "Notice" could have been Very misssleading...

What are your thoughts?

For one, the manufacturer has stated that NO preban magazines exist in the configurations listed. The site operator is simply shielding himself from liability in assisting a federal crime.

For another, a web site is private property, with the owner(s) allowed to make any rules they want. You agree to their terms when you sign up. If you have a problem with that site's operation, I suggest you take it up with their management. Whining about it here and dragging THR into it won't help a thing.

Thanks, I didn't know that, Guess I still have LOADS to learn on pre-ban eh?:)

but still, the post saying that Preban goods are Stollen Millitary property bugs me...:scrutiny:

Well, if there are no preban configurations of those magazines, then it stands to reason that HK didn't sell any to the civilian market, which would tend to make the only places with a supply of said magazines to be the police or the military.

OK, let's clear this up. I went straight to the source; the owner of HKPro.com (Tom, who happens to a LEO) and pulled a quote from him on this topic.
I get nearly no revenue from this site, as relative to what gets bought and sold here. The American consumer is obsessed with what he "can't have." In this case, it is magazines that hold a few more rounds than those he "can have."

All in all, it is a pretty good deal for people to buy and sell everything from pistols to belt fed machine guns. I set the tone for this site from the very beginning. I don't want there to be the least hint of anything illegal taking place here. I want the reputation in the LE community to be that HKPRO.COM is straight as an arrow when it comes to these issues.

the argument that it 'infrInges upon free speech' is, no offense, ludicrous. it is similar to telemarketers claims that the 'do not call' list infringes their right to free speech.
since when is freedom of speech applied to marketing, or the sales of any goods/services?
on top of that, freedom of speech is guaranteed on PUBLIC levels, not private, which message boards/bulletins/and the like fall into 'private' category.

Just so you don't think I'm jumping all over you, Zed, when I first got into HK's, I was VERY put off by the tone of HKPro. I found it totalitarian and soulless.

I've really come to appreciate it though, in the fact that it's streamlined, dedicated to HK stuff (so I know there's not going to be a lot of BS to wade through), and a great source of HK info.

I'd suggest we all raise a glass in the hopes of this being a moot point come next October.

The free speech idea doesn't apply on the basis of marketing. It's simple not a restriction of free speech. It's their forum, their rules. Simple as that. If they wanted to ban talk of Glocks or 1911s, they are completely within their right to do so. It's similar to how topics must be firearms related on THR.
