I HAVE BEEN TO SEVERAL GUN AUCTIONS IN THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
I HAVE BEEN MOSTLY LOOKING AT PISTOLS AND REVOLVERS.
TODAY I ATTENDED A LARGE AUCTION IN NE OHIO.
I HAD A LIST OF ABOUT 20 GUNS OUT OF THE 300 AND SOME THAT SOLD.
THERE WERE AT LEAST 6 HIGH STANDARD VICTORS. I HAVE BEEN WANTING ONE FOR SOME TIME. THEY WENT FROM 475.00 to 650.00. THAT IS THE HIGHEST THAT I HAVE SEEN THEM. IN MAY AND JUNE THEY WERE IN THE 350.00 TO 475.00 RANGE
THERE WAS ALSO ALOT OF COLT AUTOS. THEY TOO WENT PRETTY HIGH.
EVERY AUCTION THAT I HAVE BEEN TO LATELY, HAS BROUGHT HIGH PRICES.
THE AUTION TODAY CHARGED SALES TAX, A 10.00 PURCHASE FEE, AND YOU HAD TO FILL OUT ALL THE PAPER WORK.
ALSO ON THE INTERNET AUCTIONS LATELY, I HAVE SEEN USED GUNS BRINGING WITHIN 75.00 OF WHAT YOU CAN BUY A NEW ONE FOR (SAME MODEL).
I AM REALLY AMAZED AT THE PRICES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. THIS IS GREAT IF YOU ARE A SELLER, NOT SO GOOD IF YOU ARE A BUYER.

It's what the market will bear I guess.

Good point.

IN MAY AND JUNE THEY WERE IN THE 350.00 TO 475.00 RANGE

Another point to understand is that gun sales in late spring through most of the summer drop off according to reports I have heard. Ever wonder why? Probably mostly because people need their money over the summer for vacation, air conditioning bills, and whatever outdoor recreation they enjoy on the summer weekends. For the shooter it may equate to more time at the range, more time shooting, more range fees paid, more buying ammo; with the addition of vacation expenses, and weekend trip expenses.

Sales of firearms peaks in the fall. Again, ever wonder why? Holiday gift giving season approaching, hunting season approaching or upon us, less time spent at the range, or on vacation, or out on the weekends for many - so more time to buy guns. In addition, vacation expenses already paid, and so forth would be my guess.

All the best,
Glenn B

Prices have been going up for some time now. Prices in the used gun market are always subject to supply and demand. In part, the used market prices are driven by the new gun market and the prices on new guns has been rising.
