The greatest and most powerful country on Earth
This was sent to me, thought I would pass it on:

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable
to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
---------------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to
1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939
to 1945, 13 million Jews and others who were unable to
defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
---------------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935. >From 1948 to
1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to
defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---------------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964
to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
--------------------------------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to
1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
--------------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to
1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
--------------------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the
20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
---------------------------------------
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in
Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381
personal firearms to be destroyed by their own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more
than $500 million dollars. The first year results are
now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up
3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6
percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44
percent (yes, 44 percent!) In the state of Victoria
alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.
(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them
in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess
their guns!) While figures over the previous 25 years
showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with
firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the
past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed
that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a
dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to
explain how public safety has dereased, after such
monumental effort and expense was expended in
"successfully ridding Australian society of guns."
---------------------------------------
The Australian experience and the other historical
facts above prove it.
---------------------------------------
You won't see this data on the American evening news
or hear our politicians disseminating this
information.
--------------------------------------
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and
property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the
law-abiding citizens.
---------------------------------------
Take note my fellow Americans .....before it's too
late!
---------------------------------------
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control,
please remind them of this history lesson.
---------------------------------------
With guns, we are citizens. Without them, we are
subjects.
---------------------------------------
If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun
control message to all of your friends.

JPFO presents the data above well in the DVD " Innocence Betrayed" ( with the exception of Australian IIRC). I have found in my personal experience that the anti-genocide argument unfortunetly makes the vast majority of people uncomfortable, they tend respond with the classic "It can't happen here/nowdays" (can eanybody say Rwanda ? :banghead: ) and they tend to assume I wear aluminum foil inside my cap. ( When everybody knows that won't stop the mind control beams. You must use leadfoil

The above statements are true and easily verifiable and I like them but IMHO they are for use in the debate when only at advanced levels. ( with the exception of the Australia data. I love the Australian and Great Britan experience:D . You mean the criminals don't obey the gun control laws. :what: ).

I am not sure why people react (again in my experience) this way to a factual, logical, reasonable, argument that is IMHO one of the primary reasons for RKBA. Anyone with an idea why please jump on board.

YMMV, the above IJMHO, etc...

" If you keep on doing what you've always done--you'll keep on getting what you always got".

My way of explaining that concept is "If you keep using vanilla cake mix and hoping for a chocolate cake, there's something wrong with you."

I think it is because they believe they couldn't rise to the occasion to do the right thing, so they put it out of their minds.

When Los Angeles experienced the last big earthquake which took down freeway overpasses, my aunt who lived near the epicenter announced to me her future disaster plan was to always have $500 cash on hand so she could buy essential supplies if the ATMs were knocked out of commission. I suggested that if things were so bad that the banks couldn't give to her her money, she would be better served if she stocked up on food, water, medicine, guns and ammunition. Besides, $500 of green paper with pictures of dead presidents might not buy very much if the trucks stop rolling into Los Angeles and the grocery store shelves go bare in three days.

My aunt thought about that for a moment and then said, "I don't want to think about things like that."

I realized then that to my aunt disasters were things that happened on the television and were merely an inconvenience to her to go to the grocery store and her job. When confronted with the idea a disaster could personally affect her ability to survive, she just put it out of her mind.

spot on, Pilgrim. In my day-to-day interaction with people who haven't thought through the broad issues of "survival" in bad circumstances, they ALWAYS seem to maintain the assumption that life continues the way they know it; they'll just be inconvenienced a bit. Yeah, right--look at the Detroit riots in '66 and the LA / Rodney King riots not so long ago.

A lot of people--we can stereotype them, but it probably isn't helpful--have unconsciously grown accustomed to a very limited way of life and routine. Many of them have never worked with their hands (and their brains) to actually make something. Many of these same people have only worked at mind-numbing routines, following the directions for managing non-productive work, and they have similarly limited their personal life to familiar routines. In a crunch, they simply don't know how to react--the reptillian part of their brain wants to kick in, but they don't know how to use it.

jfh,

A couple of years ago I paid for pistol training classes for my brother and his wife so they would have a Basic Firearms Safety Certificate, necessary to buy a handgun in the PDRK. Years went by and they never got around to buying their handguns. When I reminded them that soon the BFSCs would be worthless and they would have to qualify for a Handgun Safety Certificate; more money, more tests, etc., my brother answered, "Well, I haven't seen the Taliban marching down Beach Blvd. lately, so no big deal."

My brother is of the opinion if something nasty happens I will lend him the guns he needs. I remind him that he will have to fight his way unarmed to my house over 200 miles away and wish him luck.
