I have a friend that I've hunted and shot with for close to 12 years with rifles and shotguns. Recently he's been enjoying the bosslady's pro series .357 using .38 spl loads (not many +p if at all). Due to an old neck injury he walks with crutches and while standing he can aim pretty decent at 15ish yds. He is lighter framed so too much recoil would be problematic I'm thinking, the bond derringers and this lil pro series are more than he wants to spend. Factory loads will be predominantly used. Primary uses would be target with the possibility down the road for ccw (e.g. car gun) I've seen snubby 9mm revolvers but am unfamiliar with them..... I'm thinking maybe a camik (picking one up in 2 months and he can test it) he likes the safety of that heavy da trigger on the 357 and in sa it's plenty light for him to squeeze. I've also entertained ideas about b6 setups from eaa but again I'm unfamiliar with many handguns out there. I'm not looking for feuds, just genuine advice. Caliber and specific models would be great! In advance I tried a Walther ppk (I think) awhile back in 380 and it was too complicated....the allure of the camik is the striker decocker.... thanks in advance!

If he likes revolvers, why are you talking about Canik and other autos?

Look into Kahrs. 380, 9mm, and 45 caliber.. Light thin, No manual safety, revolver like trigger pull, automatic firing pin block.

My wife carried a .38 J frame S&W for 40 years. Arthritis in her hand made light gun recoil painful.

We went shopping and she wound up with a CW 45 Kahr. I was concerned with the recoil of the .45. She said "I like this one, leave me alone!"
I'm smart enough to know when to shut my yap.
I was so impressed, I gave up my N frame .45 revolver and bought one two days later.

The 9MM might be worth a look.

If you want uncomplicated then a Kahr CM9 would work great. Trigger pull is DAO and is smooth and consistent but not all that light. I would rate it slightly better than a S&W J frame. Great sights and ergonomics and very easy to carry concealed for a long time.

Good suggestion. I got one for my wife for when she wants to concealed carry. That pistol is great; long and smooth trigger pull, lightweight, compact and accurate.

I have a really nice S&W Model 10 and a Kahr with the first generation trigger, not the current shorter one.

The S&W is long and heavy-ish. The Kahr is appreciably lighter and short. I can't see why anyone would compare them from a safety standpoint.

Rx, I'm not married to revolvers or semiautomatics, just looking at all the options, if there's a light, low recoil centefire revolver under $500 I'd love to hear about it. The jframe around here is out of his price range so I'm looking at all the options. My old hi point .40 would have been too bulky, and the trigger was lighter but there was an easy manual safety that would have helped, thanks for the heads up about the kahr we'll see if we can find a place that could let him fondle a few, the short lighter trigger may be something he could work with but it's his preference and from his standpoint I agree about the safety concern.

+1. Check armslist for local stuff and gunbroker for an FFL transferred revolver. There's a ton of 4" 64s for less than $350, and a couple J frames as well.

Kahrs do not have the "heavy DA trigger he likes".

The DA-like trigger pull is one of the reasons I have a Kahr CW9. The trigger pull is not as heavy as a Security Six, but very similar, same length but lighter.

Did you notice this part?

While a Kahr is often described as "revolver like", it certainly is not a "heavy da trigger".

The Canik has a true DA trigger, so that makes sense in terms of the OP.

Rx, exactly! and we will check around for a used 64, that might work better than the wife's pro, when he and i took it out again yesterday, he was slightly turned off by how hot it got after 20 rds in quick succession (personally i don't like how thin the cylinder walls are, but the lady likes it and i have successfully used it on a trespassing raccoon with no complaints)
