I recently inherited a gun collection and was hoping if I listed some on here I could get some answers as to what they are, some info behind the gun, possible production date and approximate value. thank you

1. Side by Side dual trigger shotgun has the new england stamped on each side. no other markings except under the barrels. under one barrel is a 73, under the other is S32 and 23059

2.Thompson Center arms CAL 50, has 57816 stamped on it

3. Coast to Coast stores model 40 marlin firearms co, stamped 26703606

4. Savage arms over under .410 / .22 model 24 stamped with 4D in a circle

5. Iver johnsons arms and cycle works champion 12 gauge choke bore and lug forged in one. no other stampings that i could find. hand stock has 20520 engraved inside it and 26959 stamped in the steel of it where it mates to receiver

THIS THREAD IS MOSTLY WORTH LESS WITHOUT PICTURES

no really, listen, good quality, they don't even have to be big, pics of the marking will get you LOTs of responses,
as it is, sorry buddy, but your google fu is really bad

you have a savage .22/.410, think there were a few models, GOOGLE COULD TELL WHICH
the shotty, no clue
the Iver Johnson, 12 gauge, most had the rep of working, a few are high end,but I don't know which is which and you would have to take pics for that ID

the TC .50 MUZZLE LOADER, think it says that somewhere on the gun
a MARLIN 40 (thats the model BTW)

as for value, I assume that you are going to sell them, realize that there are 3 basic values, replacement, what it would cost to get another one, the highest
reasonalbe resale, basically what you could expect to see at a gun shop or MAYBE from face to face sales, and sale price, what a LGS is willing to pay you, and what most face to face buyers are going to try to work you to. Sorry, but I doubt you have anything spectacular there, for sale most of those are $100 guns,

BUT I say that without seeing condition, or picture
and think of it, who will you piss off in your family by selling these?

Folks are probably going to need a picture of this to tell you much. There were lots of low-end double-barrel shotguns made by a variety of makers in the last half of the 19th century and 1st half of the 20th who didn't always put identification marks on their guns. Some folks here are way better than average at figuring out what there is to know, but there just isn't all that much to know. Value is probably quite low, but a few pictures will help a lot.

2.Thompson Center arms CAL 50, has 57816 stamped on it
Almost certainly a .50 cal black powder muzzle-loader, probably one of their Hawken style rifles.

3. Coast to Coast stores model 40 marlin firearms co, stamped 26703606
A "Coast to Coast" stores model 40 sounds like a Marlin .22 rifle. Marlin made a lot of rifles for various department and hardware type stores and stamped their names on them. A picture would help. Probably worth a bit under $100.

4. Savage arms over under .410 / .22 model 24 stamped with 4D in a circle
Ahhh... now this one is pretty neat. The model 24 combo guns are out of production and some folks just think they're the coolest thing ever. Do a search here for "Savage 24" and you'll see some of the interest in them. Kind of like the perfect rabbit or squirrel gun -- or the perfect living-off-the-land backwoods survival gun. You could probably get a few hundred for it if you want to part with it.

Yup...picture time.

none of these guns are being sold or are for sale. I ask so I have an idea for insurance purposes so I can add them to my home policy. There was also a 1951 ithica featherweight and a browning 22, but I was able to find all the info on those. I ask about these because I couldnt find much anywhere. so where else to go but a gun forum. thanks for making me feel welcome

you told me really nothing i didnt know or hadnt already placed in the original post, seems all you did was rant, sure hope not everyone on here is like you. but thanks

"but your google fu is really bad" what does this even mean??

all you had to say is can you post some pics and maybe some people can help you.

Google Fu is a reference to using Google skillfully.
Like Kung Fu, only Google Fu.
Don't ask me?

I'd look the other ones up on some of the gun auction sites.
Try Auctionarms.com, Gunbroker.com, and Gunsamerica.com.

I can assure you though that "for sale most of those are $100 guns" is not true at all.

A Savage Model 24 .22/410 in any kind of decent condition will be worth $300-$400+ retail alone. For insurance replacement purposes, more then that.
The T/C muzzle loader will be worth way more then a hundred bucks too.

O.k. The pictures will be a great help.

Let's not let a little ill courtesy mess up an otherwise interesting thread.

Ok, point taken
RC you are right
Now how much do you think a pawn shop or a gun shop would pay for them

For insurance, go to your local library (or check them out online) and look up the Blue Book of Gun Values, lots of libraries have a copy in their system. and Replacement value is the highest value, the 24 and a high end shotty were why I said most would go to a gun store at less than 100. Don't do muzzle loaders, and I see them advertised (in a kit, now that I look) for about 100 new.

Pictures really are needed for any type of valid information, with out pictures only a range of values can be given. The Trade name " New England Arms " belonged to Rohde Spencer Co. of Chicago. Their shotguns are believed to have been furnished by Charles Godfrey. There in lies the puzzle because he is listed as a Manufacturer, Agent, Importer. Godfrey was active around the turn of the 20 century ( 1900's ). Godfrey was also responsible for importing a large number of English shotguns. One thing you can do to help is to pull the forearm and check for markings, if no proof markings then it is American made by one of a dozen different makers Including Crescent. As stated, the Trade name belonged to Rohde Spencer. If this hardware chain followed the usual practice they procured their guns from the lowest bidder and had their trade mark roll marked on it. Hence , once again it could have been made by any of a dozen different makers. The reason I mentioned Crescent Firearms Co. is because they also furnished shotguns to Sears Marked " New England " and " New England Arms Co." for an unknown retailer, Rohde?? If this is confusing to you, what about us when we see a posting " I have this old gun ":)

One source shows the Coast-to-Coast Model 40 as the Marlin 99C, a .22 autoloader. Value ranges from $50-150 retail depending on condition.

#3 seems to come up all over as a discount dept store gun made by marlin. so thats correct, its a 22 auto loader with the coast to coast name on it.

That Savage is worth some money. I had a customer ask me to keep an eye open "for a steal" on one. Um...yeah, never fount that "steal." They are in demand and a lot of people want them. RC is right, check out the auction sights. I had a pawn shop owner tell me once that he cant keep the 22/.410 combos on the shelf, they sell as quick as he gets them. And he doesnt sell cheap either.

I picked up a 22/410 like yours about 20 years ago, gave $50 for it. The shot-gun barrel is a little fouled, some black fouling in it, the .22 barrel is like new, very shiny, strong rifling. I've spent about 5-6 hours rubbing lemon oil of the stock/fore-end, beautiful wood now. I've been offered $200 for mine. YMMV
