Sent my Taurus off 2 weeks ago for cracked frame and called up yesterday to find out the status. I was told 4 to 6 weeks from the time they start processing it. It took them 4 days to process it, so maybe by Christmas I can hope to have gun back.

Does that seem reasonable? Not that I can do a damn thing about it except to never buy another Taurus again, but what is the normal turnaround time with other mfg's?

Thanks,

Well, I've never had a problem with my Taurus, but 4 to 6 weeks would indicate that either they are understaffed or they have too many guns in for repair.

:p

Sorry to hear of your problems... what model was it, by the way?

It is a 669

I really like the gun and carry it when roaming around on the Deer lease, but I am actually afraid it is not repairable with a cracked frame.

Ummm...wouldn't the frame simply be replaced? Sounds kinda odd.
4-6 weeks is fairly typical for repairs and re-bluing...if that's what they're doing.

I sent a Taurus for repair 2 years ago and got it back in 4 weeks , I got it used and they repaired it no questions asked .

When I sent in a Taurus, it was a 4 week wait for me also. I wouldn't even bother calling again, when I called on mine, no one knew which way was up.

Taurus customer service stinks.

They can't repair a cracked frame. Some companies in the past have had the factory number a new frame to the old number so there is no legal problem in returning the new frame to the customer. If that is the case, it might take time to send the gun to Brazil for analysis, number a new frame out of sequence, and then rebuild the gun. Six weeks is probably long, but I can see it might take four.

Kimber has great customer service, but this is Taurus were talking about.

Taurus's right hand doesn't know what it's left hand it doing!

Taurus has an excellent warranty policy, but the customer service isn't there.
