I wondered if the gun shop mentioned had other problems or is this just a "FEEL GOOD" reaction to evil men using a GUN!!! Lastly, what prison is holding this scum?? I thought it took 50 years before we got around to ACTUALLY executing a criminal for his deeds. I am sitting in Iraq and this all occurred while I was here.

Gun Shop Linked to D.C. Sniper Won't Get Firearms License Back
Monday, September 28, 2009

Print SEATTLE — A Tacoma gun shop linked to the D.C. sniper case isn't getting its firearms license back.

U.S. District Judge Ricardo S. Martinez ruled Friday the government properly revoked the license of Bull's Eye Shooter Supply, where John Allen Muhammad and teen accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo obtained weapons.

Malvo and Muhammad lived in the Tacoma area before beginning a string of random sniper shootings that left 10 dead in October 2002.

A Bushmaster rifle used in the attacks was among hundreds of weapons that went missing from the Bull's Eye, which was repeatedly warned about sloppy record keeping. In another instance, the pair had a Tacoma man buy for them a .308 Remington rifle from Bull's Eye.

Malvo is serving life in prison. Muhammad is to be executed in November.

this story is WRONG. the person that owned the store during the sniper shootings and subsequent audit and miserable failure of said audit will not be getting his FFL re-issued.
HOWEVER he sold the store to a buddy of his, who DOES have a valid FFL which has recently been renewed until 2012. the gun shop is still open for business and will be for many years to come. the previous owner still runs the range which is upstairs from the gunshop. it's a good store too. i've purchased a few guns from them. they're knowledgeable folks there and have a great selection.

AP really blew it with the reporting on this story. it seems they are trying to mislead people into thinking that the shop will have to close which isn't the case.

Did you read what you posted?

Yes, it would help if I read more throughly, I would be curious how they all went missing? Now, back to the second part of my question, is it federal or state is planning on the execution occurring this quickly without years of appeals happening.

According to this, the store is still in business; the previous owner is the one who lost his license.

Headline: Tacoma's Bulls Eye Shooter's Supply is still open; owner blasts "partial coverage"

a few paragraphs:

And what is the rest of this story?
Bull’s Eye Shooter Supply, located where it has always been, on Tacoma’s Puyallup Avenue, is still in business, and business is thriving. Kindschuh reported Monday afternoon that his FFL – the one he already had when he purchased the business in 2003 from embattled former proprietor Brian Borgelt – had just been renewed for three more years. This FFL is good through Aug. 1, 2012, and Kindschuh made it clear his doors will stay open. The story so alarmed Kindschuh that he faxed a copy of the just-renewed FFL to my attention for a report in an upcoming issue of Gun Week.
His audit by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in the fall of last year was fine.
“We came through with flying colors,” he recalled.
But on Monday, almost immediately after the newspapers and Associated Press reported on the judge’s ruling, telephones began ringing at Bull’s Eye.
“Everybody wanted to know if we were still in business,” he said. “I’m working today and I’ll still be working tomorrow.”

The execution is being carried out in the state of VA. The sniper suspect was charged with murders in two states, VA and MD. VA prosecuted him first, probably because VA actually executes criminal scumbags

Good Riddance, to the sniper. May he rot in Hell. I actually had to travel on I-95 when all of that was going on, talk about being paranoid while pumping gas.

What did the guy lose his ffl for? Sloppy record keeping? If the bushmaster was purchased legally and then transferred illegally I don't see how they could do anything.

The non-renewal of his license, does not have anything to do with the D.C. sniper tragedy. This is an example of how the media will try and link evildoers with gun retailers, but it doesn't fly. He lost his license because he didn't operate his business properly, not because two murderers were previous customers. If the two "snipers" had bought their guns somewhere else, Borgelt would likely still be losing his FFL.

Come on, just think about it ;)

Reader's Digest version: The story is bogus. The old guy who ran the place was a shady character who lost his FFL. Some new guy bought the place and he's running a legit business. The DC Sniper happened to obtain a gun from that shop. Some anti-gun reporter is trying to make it look like he lost his FFL cause he was an evil dealer who sold to the sniper on purpose and was caught doing so.

Well, the same kinda thing crossed the mind of the BATFE as well ... hence the loss of the FFL!

If you can't or won't keep good records, you won't last long in that gig, and you might just earn yourself a vacation at the federal greybar hotel.

my local range ended up being audited after a range fire. A couple months earlier, one of the shop guys was arrested for stealing guns (or as he referred it as: storing them at his house) from the shop. I guess that is one way to get slapped with sloppy record-keeping.

Method of execution for Mr. Sniper should be small caliber rifle from @ 300 yds. away. With iron sights. By a middling marksman with unlimited ammo supply.

A joke, or yet another who only believes in PARTS of the Constitution?

The 2nd Amendment is sacred, but the 8th Amendment is questionable?

This man deserves to die in a method that abides by the Law.

The rest of the thread is just Media smoke and mirrors to push the agenda.

Well said, cruel and unusual punishment is unconstitutional.

Just a reminder that this thread is not about the shooter's fate - it's about the FFL's fate. Criminal-justice threads are not on topic here, but gun and RKBA threads are...
