It's located at Cal Expo on Oct 1-2.

Who's going? I'll be there early Saturday morning.

I fully expect to run into 45R there.

Ed

I am going.... although I havent been to a show in Kaliforistan in many, many years... probably not too much I would be interested in but it beats the hell out of staying home doing chores.
Heading out from south Yuba county on sunday.

I'm not in dire need of anything, but I figured I'd go check it out...besides, I want to watch a friend empty his wallet on Ruger 10/22 parts. :D

I'm heading down from Marysville...

We should shoot sometime.

Ed

I was there. It was rather disappointing. I remember when the McMann Roadrunner show took up the entire lower floor, and the upper floors. This one didn't even fill the entire lower floor.

It's a shame. I have many good memories when my dad and I used to spend the day there.

I'll second your sentiments.

Saw a decent deal on a BT-99 12 gauge trap gun and a Ruger #1 in 7x57 but that was about it. Bay Area Shooters wasn't even there...so I didn't even get to enjoy my friend losing his wallet.

At least we still have a gun show....BTW, did you get an advertisement for Three Seasons Guide and Gun on your windshield?

Ed

Yup.

You'll laugh.

I picked up a couple of MTM cartridge boxes, a medieval sword from the guy who had all the Samurai swords and airsoft stuff....

...and one of those pistol crossbows for $10.00.

I got in the car with my friend and asked him..."Please tell me why I bought this crossbow." He shook his head.

It was 10 bucks. I couldn't pass it up. :neener:

Yes we should shoot together sometime in fact I am going to the Lincoln rifle range today to burn some powder.
The last gun show I went to in Cal sucked, after hearing your comments about this one, Perhaps the chores done saturday weren't that bad after all (although pouring 9 yrds of concrete was kinda brutal, glad I just paid to have it done and supervised!)
Jay

I didn't see the crossbows. How's the accuracy on it? :p

What do you specialize in? I'll do rifle, pistol or shotgun...just depends on my mood really. Where do you normally shoot? Weekends good? We'll get something set up.

Ed

Rifles and handguns. Specifically, rifles from the World War II era. I shoot up at 'The Range' in Grass Valley, or out at Dillman in Lincoln.

The crossbow is just like the old Barnett Trident pistol crossbow, only it has a plastic frame. I picked up some of the aluminium shaft bolts for it. It's a cheapy, but it's a kick. The bolts are fairly accurate.

Fridays are my chootin' days. Although that may change. The Range gives a LE discount on Tuesdays.

rifle, pistol, shotgun... doesnt really matter I like auto loaders and sa revolvers equally as much. long range rifles and simple ammo burners. I like old ones just as much and sometimes more than the new stuff I even have a Japanese bring back from grandpa that I shoot (although really expensive ammo). weekends are the only time I am available to shoot but I usually go to Dillman range in Lincoln.. I am still "new" to the area (1 year) so if there are other places I would be interested in those as alternates.

M-Rex,

I'm usually working Fridays, but if you're up for some rifle, I might be able to meet you behind the base at Spenceville in the mornings.

blackedoutharley,

There are a few other areas around that are just as hospitable as Dillman. I prefer Oroville as the range is 550 yards long with nice concrete tables.

I went to Dillman once but never shot. The daily shooting fee and rules turned me off.

Ed

I have to agree that the rules are alittle anal but it is their playground so.....
The fee of $7.00 for the whole day seemed fair given the cost of indoor ranges that charge more by the hour than they do by the day. I, being fairly new to the area am unfamiliar with other ranges or open public areas to shoot. It would be nice to go somewhere that doesnt frown on people shooting double taps or "rapid fire".

I am open for other places.

blackedoutharley,

I've got the place for you if you want double taps and more. ;)

PM me.

Ed

Just wondering if anyone at the gun show saw any shotguns for sale that came from Sacramento PD or Sheriff's Department? Been looking to obtain one of those for a while now. Thanks!

Once you join the Lincoln Rifle Club/Dillman ($40/year), the range fee is only a buck on the weekends and free during the week (you get a range key for a very nominal fee). You can bring up to two buddies during the week for free. Any more than that, and you have to act as rangemaster only (i.e, no shooting yourself). All in all, it is a great place to shoot. Lots of very knowledgeable members that are more than happy to shoot the s and help you out.

I actually do not mind the strict rules. It is one of the safest places I have ever shot. If I want to work from a holster, double-tap or rapid fire, I will go to a friends place.

Hope to see you guys out there sometime.

BTW, M-Rex tends to ask himself a lot "Now why did I buy this?". I know, because I have the same illness.

Hey now...no tellin' tales out of class. ;)

I've gotten very adept at hiding my purchases in my closet for a week or so, and then making a big production in front of the wife when I drag it out. "Well...I'd forgotten I had this old thing."

I think she's on to me. :scrutiny:

You think? Your wife is a smart cookie. She was on to you years ago and just goes along with your concocted stores of old treasures found in the back of your closet. Hell, with all the long lost treasures you have found over the years, that closet would have to be 20+ feet deep ;)
