I was at the local gunshow today and found out where all your powder seems to be going off to!:cuss: Bear with me on the grainy photos, all I had was my phone. It turns out the goods pictured here belong to one reloader, not a business per se. I managed to liberate two 1lb jugs of H4895, all he had.:D Normally I don't clean out the shelves but I actually needed the powder. The prices were reasonable (the 4895 was $25 per pound which I considered ok). I passed by the table later 15 minutes and 6-8 bricks of Federal SPP had disappeared. According to the seller, he wasn't sure if the order was going to come through in time and he actually got it earlier this week. Either way, it was the most powder I've ever seen at one time. The giant gap in the powder about 3/4 of the way down at the far end of the table is where all the 4895 was sitting.

We have a gun show next weekend. I hope the powder guy is there, and I hope he has some Enforcer/AA 4100. I want to try a pound. I bought one pound of Varget and one pound of RL 15, and have been trying it with match bullets in .308, but haven't really settled on one, but need an 8 pounder when I do. If he has one of either, I may buy it, if it is reasonably priced. If I could find enough match bullets to buy, I would have settled on one by now. These folks who get the "in stock" updates on their phones are beating me to them when they arrive. I really need to get with the times. :)

Hope you all find the powder and supplies you are looking for.

There was a gun show in Knoxville last weekend as well as this weekend. Last weekend, the line to get in was 3 times longer than the longest line I saw in 2009. I turned around and left.

I did not bother going this weekend.

Maybe in a month or six things will start to approach more normal conditions.

I was at a gun show in Greenville Tx a few weeks ago and got lucky. I got 1lb of Titegroup and 700 small pistol primers for a super reasonable price. However, pistols and revolvers were priced sky high. Some of the powder this guy was selling looked like it was 40 years old and not stored in the most ideal conditions. The powder I got was in the new plastic containers and still sealed and fresh smelling. Oh, the primers I bought looked old also but they are working just fine. Still, you have to be careful at gun shows.

I went to a gunshow in Conroe Texas last weekend. I have never seen such a crowd. The place was packed. There were some reloading supplies but not near what you'd expect.

This weekend's gun show seemed to have decent supply, but quantity limits on everything. One table was limiting primer sales to 100 per person. No, that wasn't a typo - they were opening the 1000 count boxes of primers and selling packets of 100... Ridiculous

I keep in contact with gun show vendors and email inventory/price lists to compare price trends as to how much money I need to bring with me to the show (I also make sure I am one of the first ones in the show as nicely priced items sell out fast). The emailed price lists help me decide which booths to go to first. Some vendors are willing to bring extra items on my list to be dropped off on the way to their lodging or meet up. ;)

It always helps to have an "in". Most of us that are "power buyers" always get first crack at the scarce items to keep us "in the loop" (read happy) so to speak. Sadly money talks----a fact that the DEMS seem to ignore when they want.:D

One would THINK that the Mfgrs of all this reloading stuff would get on the "big money" bandwagon, and start supplying this stuff as fast as they could!...

Actually they are, but most of the components are going into ammunition.

According to Olin/Winchester, their backlog of commercial ammunition orders exceed that of military service and law enforcement combined. :what:

This is true. I saw a statement from CCI saying all their components/primers were going into loaded ammo to meet demand. It's a shame I use CCI exclusively. I almost picked up some of the Federal primers at the show but then thought better of it since I have a large backorder on the way.

I also wonder how fast they can ramp up production of powder in response to demand. It may be that increasing production rates is akin to steering an ocean liner. I don't know how much excess capacity they have and how long it takes to produce a batch of powder from start to finish.

The National Gun Day show was in Louisville this weekend. I almost always go, but based on what I experienced a smaller local show back in January, I decided there was nothing I wanted badly enough to fight what would certainly be a wall to wall mass of people.

The silver lining to all these is the fact that the firearms/components industry will experience unprecedented revenue increase and in my book, that's better than money going to anti-gun groups. :D

I think many companies will set record profits for 2011-2012 fiscal year!

Seriously? They are already going 24/7........if folks would stop buying amounts equal to 10 year's worth instead of their normal amount, this would have stabilized already

The problem is that folks are afraid that what they've got on hand now might just be their lifetime supply. With talk of limits on ammunition purchases, bans, confiscations, punative taxes etc.., etc... I can't blame folks for having significant anxiety.

To folks that had something put back, this is proof of your wisdom and maybe entertaining, inconvenient or possibly aggrevating. To folks that don't have guns and/or ammo this is a harsh wakeup call and the possibility of facing a dark and uncertain future without some means of protection is pretty scary leading to these extreme and sometimes irrational responses.

For myself, I've discovered a whole new appreciation for .22lr especially, as well as .38spcl, 12ga and standard rifle calibers like .30-30, .30-06, .270 and others.
