Gun traffic to Mexico

During the meeting of Obama and Mexican President Calderon our whimp of a president allowed Calderon to blame America for the drug problems. This is portions of their talks as reported.

Calderón claimed drug violence has soared since the US “assault weapons” ban expired.

Obama did repeat the popular claim that more than 90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States. Calderón used the 90% figure as well, and said he supported the reinstitution of the “assault weapons” ban, but understood the political problems in getting Congressional approval at this time.

Second, the drug business provides enough money so the “narco-trafficantes” can get anything they want from any source, not just gun shops in the US. And what they want most—full autos, grenades, grenade launchers and other military small arms—they can’t buy in US shops.

My problem is with the 90% of guns come from America but we can't supply full autos. The majority of the weapons that the Mexican police /military capture are reported as fully automatic AK47 style/type weapons. If 90% of the drug dealer weapons are semi automatics why are the majority of the drug dealers that are arrested are armed with full autos. An AWB would have no effect on the gun traffic to Mexico IMO. I believe we were sold out again by Obama.

I recall resding a report from an undercover LEO concerning the guns comming from the U:SA. First, it is really 90% of the traceable guns were supposedly from the USa. Most of the automatics ( which included most of the arms) were untraceable as they have no identification. Second, the traceable guns were mostly guns the wealthier drugs lords kept in their homes to show off to visitors. These were rarely used in their wars. These politicians know this but chose to evade the truth to further their agenda. It seems deceiving is not preceived as lying. Imagine, a politician that lies!!!

On another thread here on THR we have a link to an investigation that reveals surplus US Military weapons given to Mexico annually as part of the war-on-drugs aid. M16's up to M2's.

According that investigative report, many of the full autos, grenades and grenade launchers are taken by the tens of thousands of Mexican army deserters that go to the dark side because the pay is better.

So Obama may be absolutely correct when he says 90% come from America -- and he should know, being Commander in Chief and all.

It's stupid to believe that an industry with millions (perhaps billions) of dollars to spend has to go to Billy Bo Bob's Bait and Tackle Shop to purchase a semi-auto AR-15 for nearly $1,000 when there are international arms dealers who have just about any kind of armament that someone might want, up to and including fighter jets.

Oyeboten -- you nailed it right on the head. I can only think (or know) of 3 or 4 individuals out of 535 Federal politicians that you can trust to tell you the whole truth; the rest of the B A S T A R D S couldn't tell the "full" truth if their lives depended on it. I say clean them all out and start over!
