I have mixed feelings about this. Certainly I'm pleased that NH and the FSP are going to benefit from the arrival of more pro-gun, pro-freedom exiles. I honestly hope the FSP succeeds beyond the current low expectations.

On the other hand, I mourn for San Francisco, CA, the US, and freedom, when things have gotten so bad that outright socialists squeeze a gun ban out of the sheeple.

It's kind of like getting a big, unexpected inheritance from a close relative that dies: you appreciate the windfall, but feel guilty for enjoying it. :)

Poaching the Activists

LiveFreeOrDie, yes, it is true.

A lot of Libertarian parties around the US have a love-hate relationship with the FSP, because their most active pro-Freedom members are leaving, and arriving in New Hampshire.

But that was part of the motivation of the Project: the Libertarians were getting 5% of the vote for decades. Nothing was changing. Laws everywhere are getting more repressive, on every issue from your right to own firearms, to your right to put whatever chemicals into your body you want, to your right to keep the profits your earn from your labors. Rather than keep on ineffecually pouring water on the sand in places like California, we need to pool our efforts where we can actually make a difference.

We'll make New Hampshire free. Other states, when they see the NH economy growing, the people loving their restored freedoms, the drop in crime as organized criminals have fewer black markets and more law-abiding citizens carry weapons, well, those other states will take a good hard look at New Hampshire and think long and hard about all the socialist Laws they've passed over the past hundred years.
