I loved American Shooter, but after watching a few shows, I'm struck by the lack of young people and women on a show that should be trying to get new shooters into the fold. What I see is a bunch of old men..I'm one of them.. doing promo's for their sponsors. I certainly can't expect and objectivity here. I've taken it off my Tivo automatic record option.

I'd subscribe to the Oleg/Runt/Tamara/Skunkabilly show (with special guests, El Tejon, John Ross, etc.).

If I had the skill and money to produce it, I would. Just a couple of minor barriers to overcome. If I had enough money I could buy the skill.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride . . .

I'll got the lawyers. Just send guns and money! :D

I actually proposed to Tom Gresham that they have a segment designed specifically to introduce new shooters to shooting, and the various sports/disciplines associated...

I didn't get a response. Ah well.

G&A TV has the same problem as American Rifleman TV: skill writing for magazines doesn't necessarily translate to other media. I too have removed it from my Tivo, which is a shame as I was hoping for another good shooting program.

Jim's new show Shooting USA will feature young shooters for at least one episode. He was at the collegiate pistol nationals filming this year. I got to meet him briefly between matches. My team captain, Jessica, got interviewed about 4 times I think (she has this bad habit of winning everything :D ).

It would be nice to see a show on how to get into shooting at a junior level. I know a lot of local clubs are pretty big on getting juniors involved.

It's unfortunate but as is the case with regular programming in all forms of media, the sponsors call the shots with very few exceptions.

The host of these shows cater to the sponsors knowing that without them there would be no show.

I did a call in radio talk show the "Constitution Hour" for two years and vowed to not allow the sponsors to dictate where the show went.

We found a few cooperating advertisers but most did not agree with the frankness of the shows discussions and would not support it.

Only thru the donations of private individuals did the show make it two years.

I have talked to Tom Gresham in the past and he caters to his sponsors.
He knows which side of the bread gets buttered.

Money, not principles run the media. It dosen't matter wheather its gun shows or widget shows.

The same goes for most gun show promoters. They only see the income, not the product. The promoter who does our local monthly show could care a less about the complaints from the vendors who are sometimes subjected to cramped over sold spacing or at times non-airconditioned space that is not told to vendors until they show up the first day to set up.

Money is good, but not when it dictates and controls principles.
A sad fact of the world today.

Well....
I have some production equipment (industrial camera / deck, some editing) as well as experience....sadly though, no money.

Now, if someone were to produce a piece and then pitch it to another someone with air time available.....

I just wish that some TV talk show would have the brass to invite a real debate about guns.. That'd be one worth taping.

As for TV shows; yes, there is almost no young'ens in them.. It makes it seem like shooting is only for old white people.. which it's not.
