Hey guys,

I'm just finishing my associates degree at a community college and I'm looking into gunsmithing schools. I looked into the schools my senior year of high school along with some state universities and I really had my heart set on going out to Montana. Unfortunately, the sobering reality that I don't have any money, can't afford some 40K/year college, and the that I have no idea what I want to do with my life left me at home commuting to school.

I feel far more prepared now than I did then. I have worked more, saved some more money, and have become more independent, which is why I am starting to look into this again.

I didn't go to school for gunsmithing because I wasn't really sure where it could take me and that it's not a regular college. Right out of high school, I was unprepared to live in an apartment on my own. I feel more prepared now, however it's still going to be a lot of work.

So anyways, I'm back in the boat, and I'm looking for recommendations of what school to go to. I had a couple in mind, mainly the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School: http://www.pagunsmith.edu/index.php. From the research I did, it's one of the best in the countries, and is only a day or so away by car. I'm going to be doing more research on what I can do in terms of careers and schools, but I would really appreciate any kind of help you can offer me.

I'm sorry if this is a kind of vague question but it's a direction I would like to see my life heading in. I have always been involved at the gun club, but gunsmithing seems taboo around these parts and I'm just really in the dark.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and any help you guys can offer me.

I went to Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad and found it to be excellent. It was founded by PO Ackley of rifle fame right after WWII. I cannot comment on the Penn school. I have also worked with Colorado School of Trades grads and they were well trained as well.
