For the M-1 Garand, in the near future I might buy an 8 lbs. jug of whichever type 4895 is appropriate for the op rod stress on the heel etc.

Do both type of this series burn at about the same (correct) rate for limiting the pressure curve at the gas port?

This might not correspond, but in my Lee Reloading chart for .308 Win., the min. powder loads are only about .5 grains apart for 150 gr. bullets, which Seems to indicate a similar burn rate (?).

Both are 100% in the correct burn rate range. Both are very close in performance but you can not interchange load data.

With a 150gr bullet I charge 46.0gr H4895 or 47.0gr IMR4895. Neither is the top of the pressure/velocity range but both make good M1 Garand loads...

Both IMR 4895 and H4895 are in the same burn range, along with RELODER12 and H335.

BUT they are not the same. Load them independently.

I have found that they work suitably with Garands. I prefer to move up to a little faster burn rate with 748. Several will complain about temperature sensitivity. I'm more sensitive to heat and cold, so I don't care.

I have used both kinds of 4895 in my M1 with no problems. Recently I have switched to H4895 exclusively due to that powder being listed in more load data that is relevant to the rounds I load.
To answer your question: yes, both are in the pressure curve.

Just checked Graf's and Sons site, all powders are out, so I wish you luck getting gunpowder.

I have tested IMR 4895 and H4895, I think H4895 is a more advanced powder due to its coatings, but the velocities and charge weight differences between the two are such that they can be explained as lot to lot variences. Originally H4895 was advertized as a copy of IMR 4895. This is also true of AA2495, it is Accurate Arms copy of IMR 4895. I have used all of these powders in M1's, M1a's, they all work great.

Outside of being green, and lot to lot differences, these powders are interchangeable.

Buy by price.

Slamfire, I have been looking at AA2495 as a general powder, similiar to IMR4895. I have not noticed the Accurate Powder loadings to cover as broad of range of cartridges/bullet combos as the IMR4895 or the H4895. Is this because Accurate powder has other powders they recommend for specific loads? And does AA2495 have any advantages over H4895 or IMR4895?

Hodgdon's latest reloading manual has a good article explaining the history of both and the differences. Personally, I don't know why they don't make them the same as they did with W760/H414 & HP 38/W231.:)

They don't make them the same because they come from different foreign lands.
IMR in Canada
H (ADI) in Australia.

Hodgdon started out selling WWII surplus powders. When they ran out, they contracted for copies here there and yonder; these days from ADI.
I figure the batch they copied from was not quite the same as what IMR set as cannister grade many years later.

You would have to ask Accurate Arms. As they are a Corporation, trying to maximize profits now, Corporations often have products that do essentially the same thing, but they emphasize and advertize what brings them the highest profit. That’s my theory.

I shot over 27 lbs of AA2495 in Highpower competition when it was cheaper than IMR 4895/H4895. My powder was made in China, produced a bit of a fireball out of a M1a, but it was great stuff. I might have gotten my Distinguished with it, not that what powder I used really matters.

I consider these powders in the same sort of category as bottled water. As all brands of bottled water are water, and I cannot tell any real difference between water in a blue bottle versus a green bottle, I buy by price.
