NRA-ILA reports that H.R. 6691 is likely to reach the floor of the House this coming week for a vote. See details here:

----
I went to http://www.house.gov
jumped to the web site of my Representative, and using his web site e-mail submission form, sent him the following e-mail:
=======
I am writing in support of H.H. 6691, To restore Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia. I urge you to vote for this bill, and encourage you to become a co-sponsor.
The response of the D.C. City Council to the Heller decision was to enact new emergency legislation that re-enacted the very legal prohibition against keeping a working self defense gun in the home that the Supreme Court had declared unconstitutional. Clearly the D.C. City Council is not capable of complying with the Constitution in matters related to the 2d Amendment. Therefore, H.R. 6691 is essential to providing Constitutional rights to D.C. residents that the City Council would deny to them.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
=======

Note that, since D.C. has only 6 FFL holders, and only ONE of those is willing to actually sell guns, H.R. 6691 would authorize D.C. residents to buy guns in Virginia or Maryland.

Also, be aware that some political analysts believe that House leadership is only allowing H.R. 6691 to come to a vote on the floor because they feel confident that it will be killed or stalled in the Senate. We only have until the final recess before the November election for it to be passed in both houses during this Congress. Therefore, if it does pass in teh House, be ready to push your Senator to get it voted on (and positively) within a few weeks.
