Loading 50gr bullets, I found data from 24grs H335 in my Speer Manual, to 26gr in another book, up to 28grs in Sierras bolt action load data. Quite a spread in Max load data! Anyone load H335 that hot? I havn't loaded hotter than 26gr, or seen any pressure signs. I had pretty decent group at 26gr, with some vertical stringing, and read a little more powder may be needed at that point, but that was my max load, and never pushed it higher.

I use 25gr for 50 & 55 gr bullets in all brass and for all guns. It has been the best all around load I have found.

1-9 twist
hornady 50g V-max
25.3 gr-h335
hornady 7th edition list min21.8,,,,,,MAX 25.7

I loaded and shot H335 27gr, and shot 1/8 group. No pressure signs, But I did back them down to 26 to see if I can still hold that size group.Im working with the noslers 50 gr,balistic tip. COL for my gun, is 2.250,that works for me..

Hodgdon website: 223 Rem, H335, 25.3 GR. 55 GR. SPR SP, 2.200", 24"
barrel, 3203 fps, 49,300 CUP

Test 8-19-2003: Ruger #1, CCI 400 small rifle primers, LC brass once fired
processed from Scharch and prepped by me, 55 gr Vmax moly, H335

pic left to right: unfired 27 gr, 28, 29, 30, and 31 gr.

unfired, extractor groove .329"
28 gr, extractor groove .329", 11% overload 69 kpsi
29 gr, extractor groove .329", 15% overload 80kpsi
30 gr, extractor groove .3295", 19% overload 92kpsi
31 gr, extractor groove .3320", 23% overload 106kpsi

What does it all mean?
The threshold of short brass life is between 29 and 30 gr.
In 1956 Vernon Speer said to back off 6% from that threshold for a usable load. 6% = ~1.8 gr

Clark,

Thanks for the pictorial:eek: Looks like Sierra data is a little hot at 28gr, but with a 50gr bullet, maybe safe. Definatately hotter than I like to go!
