Hi:

Just thought that you would like to see the set of clear grips that Hakan made for my Colt LW Officer's ACP. I have these grips in-hand and am VERY pleased with them. Although not an exotic wood from which Hakan usually creates his masterpieces, you can clearly tell that they are handcrafted and not mass-produced.

The Colt is being reworked and will incorporate a number of Paris Theodore's ASP concepts - the clear grips being one of them.

Hakan said that these will be his last set, because they are so difficult to craft, but he hinted that if the demand is there, he may make more.

C'mon guys, I need a backup set!

BTW, to see Hakan's craftmanship go to: http://www.imageseek.com/hakan/

Interesting, but I seem to remember that the ASP grips were not all clear, but had a clear window in them. And of course mags that matched.
I look foward to seeing your finished project.

nice grips

. by the way, those are special ordered grips, right? i was wondering if he(hakan) could make a pair of ALL-METAL grips. all metal grips are extant, but Alumagrip only make grips for 1911s. i really wish that someone would make all-metal grips for the sig p220. i own a pair of p220st's and i think that all-metal grips would really look great on them.

Hi George:

It's the concepts, rather than exact duplication, that I will be incorportating. Another example would be the guttersnipe sights for very fast close quarter target acquisiton. Rather than try to have a replica made for the Officer's ACP, I'm going to have the XS big dot sights installed.

Regards,
John

The majority of the ASP grips are clear all the way through, though they are smooth for a "window" portion in the center. There are also some special order ASP grips that are buffalo horn with a clear center window.

I've often thought of doing up a small 1911 in ASP form as I have a spare guttersnipe sight sitting around, but haven't gotten around to it as yet.

I know the mans work very well. I have a set on my RAMI 9mm. I hope you enjoy your new grips as much as I do.

BTW Welcome to the High Road..

Uh.....

Hello Mrs. Armoredman!!! I thought you were already registered here under one of your other aliases?

Either way . . . . . . Greetings!

Back to the Hakan Grips - I think that the above is amung his more innovative designs. I think that some of the finest examples of his capabilioty are the Grizzly Grips and the one's where he managed to insert the lower portion/slice of a shell casing. I can't find that pic now - But that is his coolest work!

Im biased and DAMN PROUD OF IT!!!!!!!!! I think Hakan is one of the finest 1911 and CZ grip makers out there! Plus he's a hell of a nice guy and a classy individual.........:D So there......... :neener:

Shoot well..........

Like Eric, I'm also biased.

Can you blame me?!?

I can't help it guys. His work is like functional art.

I work at a large, fully capable Army Depot and I love to visit our machine shops. We have many talented journeymen machinists on the floor who can sculpt a piece of billet anything into some of the most beautiful lines and curves you've ever seen. Naturally, it's really a custom fabbed component of some piece of major military end item . . . . . But those guys work the CNC Machines and the older "by hand" machine equipment like they have superpowers! I love to see a block 3foot x 2foot x 10inch stainless or aluminum turn into art in just 2-3 days.

Hakan earns the same appreciation for what he does to grips. Fantastic work!

No Gary in PA I don't blame you at all. I to feel the same way. I am proud to own a pair of Hakans.

Hello back to you Gary in PA. Yes this is one of my AKA names. shhhh don't tell anyone.

i seem to remeber the original ASP grips being made of LEXAN and completely clear too...you guys might be thinking of the DEVEL grip which had the window surrounded by rosewood.

i would think the tougher task would be cutting out the sides of the mags without distorting the bodies...maybe i just don't have the right tools

WOW! THANKS!!!

Folks,

I can't find the correct words to thank you all....I'm humbled by your enthusiasm.(not to mention blushing  )

John,Thank you for starting the thread and thanks everyone for their kind and encouraging input.

Regards,

Hakan.
