I just bought a harris #5 bipod adapter for my ar15, along with the worst instructions EVER.

Anyway, i think ive got the idea of how to install it, but when i took my handguards off, they have aluminum heat shields inside, i need to remove these to install the bipod adapter.

How do you remove these heat shields? I dont want to just rip them out and break them. Thanks in advance.

thanks josh, thats what i did. although i found that after removing them they didnt snap back into place because the bracket that holds the post was pretty thick, so the best thing i found to do is drill a hole in the heat shield exactly the size of the shank on the bracket, and then tighten it down. it pinches the sheilds into place this way, and is very sturdy.
