Alright I live here in the communist state of MA, And I enjoy firearms, I enjoy shooting shotguns,rifles and pistol(with my dad), Now I have been perusing other gun sites like TFL, THR and the free sections of northeastshooters, Now im only 20 years old and im not going to BS you I am very impatient when it comes to buying firearms that I've researched and the only thing that would keep me from buying it would be money,

After hearing about interfamily transfers allowing minors 18 and older to have guns from family members be transfered to them was completely legal. Now if anyone has ever done this, How hard is it to get? How much does it cost? If any one knows if its legal in MA? And the last question would I be able to go to the shooting range with the handgun seeing how it was legally transfered into my ownership. So any start up information that you can give me would help, or if you guys know of any sites I visit and I was thinking about heading down to the police station one of these days to ask.

Also this struck me when I heard about it, considereding that anyone under 21 can't buy handgun ammo.

I'm done. I went and looked at MA law and couldn't make any sense of it. Sorry i couldn't help more.

It kind of looked like maybe you had to have either a Class A or Class B License to Carry in order to receive a handgun in addition to the FID?

No, you can buy just about any ammo. You just can't buy ammo for a handgun. Think about it.

However, to lie to a dealer in regards to the purchase of ammunition is against Federal law.

I don't think so. Besides, the Federal law concerning ammunition sales to persons between 18 and 21 only applies to dealers with FFLs. There are plenty of places that sell ammunition that don't have FFLS. For instance, WalMarts in California. Of course, many, if not most States, have ther own laws concerning ammunition sales.

18 USC 922 (a)(6):
(a) It shall be unlawful—
(6) for any person in connection with the acquisition or attempted acquisition of any firearm or ammunition from a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, knowingly to make any false or fictitious oral or written statement or to furnish or exhibit any false, fictitious, or misrepresented identification, intended or likely to deceive such importer, manufacturer, dealer, or collector with respect to any fact material to the lawfulness of the sale or other disposition of such firearm or ammunition under the provisions of this chapter;

So, if you are going to lie to a seller of ammunition, you need to ask them if they are licensed first. If they are not licensed, then you can legally lie to them, if not against state law. If they are licensed, you can still lie to them, but it will be a felony you are committing.
