I was wondering where I could refer my brother in Peoria Arizona (Burbs of Phoenix) to get a good handgun. Something for home protection. Please let me know reliable places for purchase in the area if you know anything so I can refer him.

Many thanks!

Take a drive to J&G.

A fairly large company, I have a Brother who frequents it.

FROM PHOENIX

I-17 North
US HWY. 69 to Prescott goes into
Gurley Street (Go through town square, half a mile after town square, you get to)
Grove Street, Turn right (turns into Miller Valley Road)
Address is 440 Miller Valley Road (about 3/4 miles on left, before the post office.).

JG is generally only worth the 2 hr drive IMHO if you're going for one of their police trade in deals or sometimes bulk ammo. They do have some cheap Smith Revolvers in stock that are police trade ins and have been converted to double action only. Mid $200's as I recall.

Cabelas and Sportsmans warehouse in the west valley arre great places to put your hands on firearms and generally have pretty competitive pricing.

True gun shops in the west valley are Randall's and Lone Wolf - the former having a really good group of guys, the latter being less customer service friendly but has historically had some pretty good Glock priicng.

I'd be reimiss if I forgot
Phoenix Firearms
Owner is Mont and they have great pricing on things, and have some harder to find stuff like the Diamondback 380s, the Taurus TCP and Tarus 709

RANDALLS!!!!!

Awesome store run by some really cool dudes. Harlen, the owner, is a great guy. If he cant help you he will gladly point you in the direction of someone who can.

Edit.... Its located on the south east corner of 51st ave and Olive ave. Behind the gas station and Subway in the corner.

Ranalls is a good store as mentioned.

Lone Wolf, a mile North on 51st and Peoria Ave. NW corner west of Sprouts groceries in the same strip mall is also a good place with good prices.

If you want to find something that's a little hard to get try Legendary guns on 19th Ave. just North of Camelback. They seem to have just about one of everything. They're a little spendy IMO but you can see just about any model. Good place if you like Cowboy action or old west replicas in handguns and long guns.

If your brother doesn't mind a little drive then Prescott offers a large number of really great gun shops, all within a small area.

J&G often comes up when people talk about gun stores in Arizona but if you're going to drive to Prescott to look for guns then I would suggest Prescott Valley Guns over J&G. I lived in Prescott for about a decade and while I bought probably a dozen guns at J&G over the years I lived there I probably bought over forty guns from Prescott Valley Guns during that time.

Besides Prescott Valley Guns there is also High Noon Shooting Parlor, High Country Guns & Knives, The American Gun Shop and Bill's Trading Post. All of these gun shops are staffed by older guys who seem more interested in talking guns than selling them, unlike J&G where most of the clerks there are first and foremost salesman.

I would suggest that your brother take a day and drive to Prescott, I'm sure he'll find a handgun at one of the shops up there that will fit his needs.

I'd tell him to look at Cabela's. I was just out there last week and they had lots of nice used guns. It's hard to beat their new gun prices too.
