I've been wondering lately about rifle production numbers over the years. There are scattered sources giving total production numbers, but no single source. Maybe we can compile an ongoing master list of the totals with citations. Here's my contribution:
From Lapin, The Mosin-Nagant Rifle, (2nd Ed):
M1891 total to 1922 (excluding Finns)= 11,473,370
M91/30 total to 1945 (excluding Finns)= 17,475,000
From Poyer, Kalashnikov Rifles:
AK-47, est. 50-70 million
