My son just purchased a Marlin 45/70. He wants to get some ammo that will rattle your teeth just to see what it is like.

Who manufactures the most powerful 45/70 ammo that is recommended for the Marlin? What FPE does it run?

I have a Marlin 1895. If he just wants the "experience" of recoil, he could just get kicked by a mule :) Probably similar

I suspect some of the Garrett bullets may be the heaviest factory loads

I went the other direction and added a Pachmyer Decelerator. With the new pad and moderate loads of Varget, it's not bad.

I would have to say the Garrett loads are the hardest kicking factory rounds. My hunting partner and I shot them out of an 1895 Guide Gun,as well as his Thompson Center Contender.A little uncomfortable in the rifle, but downright painful from the pistol.

The hardest kicking 45-70 round??....one shot in an American Arms Deringer....Damn it that hurt :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: ....(needless to say I only fire once)
 :p
