A while back, I posted some questions about the HF pistol as I began assembly of a kit from Dixie Gun Works.
Well, it sits before me ready for flint and powder and I am pleased with the finished product. And I am amazed at how much work was needed to whittle off all the wood that didn't belong on the stock. The contours are subtle on the originals and trying to duplicate them is part of the fun and learning process of building a kit gun.
I know.....it isn't close to perfect but I had to stop fussing with it or I wouldn't be able to bring myself to shoot it. Once the weather breaks it WILL speak with some Goex 3F behind a patched round ball.
It is nice to have something fun to look forward to! And, if anyone is wondering about the Pietta Harpers Ferry pistol, I would give it a hearty thumbs up.
