You found one of the better sites. Hodgdon has a tendency to be a little conservative with their data, so you won't generally get into any trouble with it.

Hope this helps.

It is a great site but I disagree with them being conservative. If you look at their .308 loads using Varget and 168gr Sierra MatchKings their max of 46gr is significantly higher than any book including Sierras own loading manual. Add to that the fact that Varget has fast lots and slow lots in its history and you have a recipe for disaster if you don't use caution. I use 43.9gr of Varget in my load and that generates 2650fps and it is starting to show primer flow.

I have also used their data for my .40 S&W w/ 155gr bullets and Universal Clays. I started at their low which was 6.0gr and in my G23 they are very snappy. Almost as much so as my 155gr Hornady TAP ammo I carry for CCW. I backed down to 5.6gr which is what the Hornady book has as middle of the road if I recall correctly and it is much more pleasant to shoot. I am not recoil sensitive and enjoy the .460 S&W and 10mm but I know I don't want to try a steady diet 6.6gr of Universal Clays in my G23 and it even has a Storm Lake barrel in it for better case support as well.

Their max loads are just that imho.

Hodgdon's data should be just right if you have some folks saying it's weak and others saying it's too hot. ;)
