Any one have experience shooting a Hatsan 95?

Possibly looking at getting one, maybe in .25.

.25 is less expensive than .22

Spring is coming, time to fire up the airguns again.

Supposed to have a German barrel and good walnut stock but heavy.

I recently purchased one in .177 and sent it back. I'm a pretty big guy, 6' / 240lbs and the cocking effort was massive. It stole all the fun out of shooting. Many crossbows require less effort! It also recoils more than a .22lr and sounded almost as loud. Ad in it's massive size/weight and its just about pointless.

Quality wise, it was very nice though. Accuracy was fine with cheap pellets and iron sights. I could cover my groups with my hand at 50y.

As always, this is my experience and your mileage may vary.

I have the "refurbished" model 95 and it is as new condition. I have the gas piston version. It isn't hard to cock as some say, excellent trigger, nice day glow sights, beautiful wood and metal fit and finish. I've found it very accurate and it hits hard. I have the .25 and wouldn't go back to lesser calibers. I've shot numerous chippies in my yard with a Gamo under lever in .177 rated at 1000 fps and on many occasions have to take multiple shots to finish the job unless you get the perfect head shot but this thing knocks em right out of the tree DOA!l Dropped a skunk at 15 yards with a body shot. It was night time and the dogs were going mad. I couldn't see the head clearly so went for the vitals area in the body. Stopped cold. .25's cost more than the .22 pellets but I'm a believer. And for us old guys with poor eyes and arthritis they're so much easier to load. I highly recommend this gun.

.25 compared to .22

Just know that a heavier 25 cal pellet at 650fps is going to be more of a rainbow shot than a 22 cal at 800fps. As long as you know that going in and don't mind the science needed for longer shots, it should be fine...

Also you get what you pay for. Any Air rifle in that price range are going to have some lemons on the shelf. If you get a good one, you're golden if not, the good thing is that most on line dealers are very good about making it right...

Good Luck...
