When shooting my .22 rifle or .22 shorts out of my Heritage rough rider I don't wear hearing protection. Put .22lr in the RR and they go on. I fired a 8" Dan Wesson in .357 one time without hearing protection. I lost my hearing for three days and I have some hearing loss to this day because of it. I always wear muffs when I shoot now.
