I have a friend bringing me a double barrel flintlock long gun. The gun is old and has HEBERARD on right side plate in yellow print behind hammer and above rear half of trigger guard. The left side same related position it has A.LIBOURNE. also in yellow. He wants me to help him find a buyer for this gun but I don't know much about these older guns, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can show some pictures when I see the gun.

HEBERARD was the name of a French gunmaking family.
LIBOURNE was a gunmaking region in France.
YELLOW markings of that age would almost certainly be inlaid gold.

So, I gotta go with an old gun, made in France, with some gold inlay words on the locks.

Without more info there is no possible way to tell you anything much else.

Good Photo's would help a lot.

This is really the sort of thing that's going to take close-up, clear photos to properly identify, including the proof marks (which should be visible once you slide a retaining latch in the forearm to one side, then lift up the barrels to free the hook from the stock). The "yellow lettering" sounds like gold-filled engraving, which isn't cheap, so you want to be careful with anything you do.

Thanks for the info I am still waiting to see the gun, I will update with pictures when I see it. I will also check for marks at that time.
