Now that it has returned to the air do you think Hell on Wheels will create a demand and interest for black powder revolvers which in turn will cause Cabela’s to have a sale?

I don't know about that Brick but it sure makes me wanna shoot mine.

If the show made cap and ball guns popular , there would be no sale, demand would be high enough that the marketing guys wouldn't have to reduce the price.

I just barely remember the national sudden popularity of Davy Crocket back in the mid 50's, The theme song was played on the radio, and folks cancelled other activities, gathered round the Tv to watch. Every body watched. Coonskin hats and licensed products were in high demand. (I still have my coonskin hit) There was a series of air rifles that fired 1/2 inch cork balls, and even came with a bonded leather possible bag. (Had it but wore it out)

Seeing another massively popular frontier/western genre movie or show like that is unlikely. Don't get me wrong, I really like Hell on Wheels. I just don't think it is the show to make cap and ball revolvers a big fad.

perhaps

but probably also create a bunch of them for sale on the secondary market, when the novelty wears off and they just cant dump rounds in them alot of people will regulate them to wall hanger or sell 'em. But if it gets just a few people in the sport thats a good thing, growing up watching Outlaw Josey Wales and Jeremiah Johnson, sparked something in me, now at 42 im all in on learning and shooting some of these things:D
sometimes it takes awhile for some of us to get started:D
An aside youd a thought i was gonna riot when the main character switched from open tops to the remmie:D:eek:
wife thought i was losing my mind

Watching Hell On Wheels on Netflix makes ME want a C&B wheelgun and a shorty BP shotgun.

And I'm only a few episodes into season 2, so don't spoil it for me, I already screwed up and saw a couple TV spots for the upcoming season.

Me too especially since (spoiler alert)

(spoiler alert) (spoiler alert)

His gets his original one back. Yet he still uses the Union gun.

DGW is having a sale. I'd rather a Remington than Colt any day of the week but Cabelas is offering faux brass framed "Navy" Colts for @ $215 right now if that's your thing.

yeah i know, tis a shame:D
he had the G&G then carried a '60 then for shame a remmie:D (i kid i kid)
im gonna get a '60 then i figure when i get more funds i'll get a '51, and a walker, etc., but for me the '60 is the picture of beauty and grace! im sure id like a remmie just fine if i had one, but something bout the open tops man!

Ivankerly, Check out my thread question to Duelist1954. He posts an excellent picture of the three colt open tops with round barrels. From smallest to the largest. 62colt police, 61 colt navy and the 60 colt army.
The thread is on page 2 at this time and is titled "a question for Duelist1954.

pancho

yep saw it, nice comparison, i even posted in that thread:D
i had my own thread asking about open tops, got to handle a .36 navy or maybe the police, dunno but the grip felt a bit small, besides ive wanted an army for years so i figure thatll be the first and given what ive seen from everybody on here probably not the last:D
Thanks
Gene
