Hi Folks, As you've probably heard many times.... I have this old gun. This is what i know about it. It's a Smith and Wesson 2nd model single shot .22lr target pistol. I know they only made them for a few years in the early 1900's, from what i could gather 1905-9 give or take. all the numbers on it that i could find match. seral number is 38xx
Other than id'ing it more definitely, the other dilema i have is what to do with it. not only does it shoot, and shoot very well, but it is still in great shape. the blueing is almost completely intact. and i have the original box. I've never been the collector type, to me it's just a neat old handgun that shoots well. I'm more of a utilitarian, if i've got it i'm going to use it, which for something like this is probably not the best policy.
The other part of the dilema is that i'm from jersey. Not the easiest state to buy and sell firearms in. so even if i wanted to sell it, it may be kind or more hassle than it's worth to me. I've seen examples online at auctions here and there so i know it's somewhat valuable. Kinda in a spot where i'm not entirely sure what to do, other than feed my curiosity about it and it's history.
Thanks for any help.
