I recently purchased a Ruger Red Label, (12ga, 28" barrel, target grey). Prior to this purchase the only shotgun I used for the past 15 years was my Remington 870 (30" barrel, double beads). During that time I have come to love the double bead sights, so I brought the red label to a gunsmith and had him replace the factory bead with the double beads from an 870. I have since put 100 rounds through the ruger and have found that I really have to bury my cheek in the stock to align the beads (so much that my cheek becomes bruised after 50 rounds...this has never happened to me before). Also, my shot placement is below the target (both beads aligned and target on top of the beads, and when both beads are aligned with the target). After talking to a few people the consensus is to raise the middle/back bead, which should align better with the target and raise my cheek off the stock. My fear with this is that the bead will have to be raised so much (1/4"? have no idea) that it will look goofy. Has anyone else had this issue with adding a double bead or aftermarket front bead to a Ruger red label?

Sounds like the stock doesn't fit you the same as the 870. If the drop at the comb is less, you end up forcing your face down harder to try to get the same "picture". Checking the stock fit and getting it right would get around the face bruising.
It also sounds like your shotgun is shooting low. Does it center low with both barrels? Does it do the same thing when someone else shoots it? How far low at what range with what kind of loads?

I haven't patterned the gun yet, only shot 4 rounds of trap with it. I was using the bottom barrel (because that was where the modified choke was), with 2-3/4", #7.5 shot. When I busted the clays I was only catching the bottom of them, I got better breaks as I buried the clay in the beads (versus aligning the target on top of the beads).
