Can any one help identify the revolver in the picture? It is set up for single action only, 6.5 inch barrell, aftermarket trigger shoe and compensator (?), SN 144XXX. I've been told it is a 38/44 Outdoorsman. Is this correct?
Sure looks like a .38 special in a N-frame. 38/44 refers to S&W revolvers that were chambered in .38 Special and built on the (larger) .44 frame. The revolvers were the .38/44 Super Police Revolver (later known as the .38/44 Heavy Duty Revolver) and .38/44 Outdoorsman.
