I am looking at a newer Remington 700 SPS-Varmint .308/26" heavy barrel with about 120 rounds shot through it. It is all stock and appears to be in good condition. Is $500 a decent deal for this gun.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thomas

I don't think it's bad or good. Last Oct I bought a Stainless version SPS in .22-250 for $480 new.

I suspect you could pick up a new one for about the same price as that used gun if you look around. But then 120 rounds is nothing.

They must have gone up somewhat if new they are going for $550.

Hate to say it but if new is $550 and used is $500 I'd pass. I think $350 is low but I'd pay $400 or $450 if in good shape.

Is it from someone you know? If it's a gunstore, pass.

Thanks for all of the replies. It is from a local gun. I don't know him and I think I am going to pass. Starting to think I might want to get a savage instead too.

Thanks

Thomas

Nothing wrong with Savage or Remington, I've owned both. The Savage rifles are gone now and I still have my Remingtons.

Go back to the shop and offer $400 for that rifle. If they don't take it they're being foolish.
