Thats what I would get if I wanted something big and slightly exotic. And if I didn't want to be that different, then I would get a marlin 1895 in 45-70.
I am going to buck the Marlin tide and suggest a Wnchester 1886 either a recently built one or one of the older Browning 1886 .45-70s from a few years ago.
These classic recreations are some of the nicest best handling of the big bore lever rifles IMO and unlike a Marlin you can go years without seeing another especially if it is the high grade 1886 .45-70, what a work of art!
For an autoloader a BAR II in or .300 WM or .338WM would also make a nice long range desert plinker or blaster, just pick a caliber you like and whatever grade you fancy or add engraving to a blue one and have it plated.
For a single shot checkout a Sharpes or 1878 Browning in .45-70 one can have it bored to an even longer case if one so chooses.
