I've been using a web sling with good results, but I'd like to try a leather M1garand type sling. I've heard some that have week clips or holders that break. Can you recommend a good one? Should I just buy a used original military sling on Ebay?

Turner saddlery (www.turnersling.com) has given me a lot of good use and they are durable. It seems that a lot of the other guys who shoot high power matches also like them. Just be aware that they tend to take some time in getting it to you after you place an order.

The surplus "MRT" marked slings work fine for light duty. If you need heavy duty, then Turner or Les Tam. Turner sells 2nds on their website. I've got several and can't tell you what's wrong with them.

Everybody seems to recommend Turner slings.
I have had very good luck with Brownells Competition leather slings.
I also use their quick adjust leather slings on a couple of hunting rifles with excellent results.

Take a look at Galco's Safari Ching Sling. Jeff Cooper introduced to the design years ago (that makes sense because I'm OLD & he's passed-on, R.I.P). It's the most stable sling set-up I've ever used, and almost everyone who tries mine...goes out & buys their own by the next time we shoot.

Brownells Line of slings are very nice. I have a Military type on my bolt rifle the hooks are steel and the keepers and sling are of good quality leather.
