Hey guys, I saw some posts about users shimming the Rossi 1892 to feed 38SPL better. My new R92 has issues with 38SPL WC (lengthened to 1.4") and 357 SWC loads. I can get about 3 rounds in and then they get stuck. 357 RN catridges load up fine though.
What can I do to help load 38SPL WC and SWC loads?

thanks!

My old Rossi handles jacketed bullet .38 Spls and .357 Magnums with case crimped into a bullet channellure fine.
.38 Spl WC Wad Cutters and SWC SemiWad Cutters with square shoulders are a single load proposition only for me, using the rifle like a single shot.
I accept the limitation in bullet types to those those that match the profile of the .38-40 and .44-40 that the action was designed for in the 1890s.

Mine also feeds pretty much anything. I suspect the older rifles are more problematic with bullet style/shape than the newer rifles, but I could be wrong.

My newer one feeds anything in 38 special like a kid eating candy except full wad cutter loads. They just lay there on the tray. 357 is where I encounter some problems. JHP wont feed if the HP is too large and some time other loads require a little lever jiggling to get into the chamber. Just now and the, not every round. Hornady make a 140 grain JHP that works perfectly and is quite accurate over a snoot full of W296. This load in the light little rifle will get your attention though.

Buddy got an R92, with the notion of occasionally feeding it some of his target wadcutters. They relentlessly will not feed; I'll have to suggest the single loading thing.
Others have noted; the gun was designed for 19th Century bullet shapes; my 92 feeds RNFP .45s with exactly zero problems.

OK, I should have paid more attention to the OP. I have no problem with "feeding" (your word usage in the first sentence) any bullet shape into my magazine. It might it be a spring issue as they come with a seriously over length mag spring. I cut several inches off mine (trial and error method) and improved it a lot.

My Rossi 92 feeds everything but wadcutters. My solution? Don't use wadcutters.

Unfortunately, it depends on the individual rifle.

My 10 year old Rossi 92 .357 feeds all forms of .38Spl. and .357 perfectly.
Same for mine. I've never tried wadcutters but it handles hollowpoints and semi wadcutters in 38 and 357 just fine.
