Just got the A2 buttstock for my 6.8 AR in the mail and am ready to finish this thing. However I was wondering if the standard buffer assembly is heavy or strong enough to handle the extra recoil of the 6.8 round? Also, a friend suggested I use locktite when installing the buttstock. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I went with a Tubbs flat recoil full length spring and a standard buffer for my Stag 6.8mm. A little lock-tite on the threads was SOP at my last unit. In fact every butt-stock screw I have ever seen shows evidence of blue lock-tite on it.

I installed a 1:11, 20" DPMS (Panther Arms) 6.8 barrel on an old Colt carry handle AR-15A2, The barrel, a 6.8 bolt and a couple of magazines are the only modifications I've done to the stock rifle. It's been shooting just fine.

I shoot handloads. I've developed a "standard" load using SSA brass, Hornady 110gr BTHP with cannelure, WSR primer, and 29gr H322 propellant. It achieves a little over 2600 fps from my rifle.

Good luck!
