Hi folks,
Back in the 50's, my father was an officer on the Louisville, KY police force. He left the PD after several years and worked on the Louisville fire department, where he spent the rest of his career. He was injured and retired off the fire department.
My sister and I decided after 9/11 that we wanted to display these aspects of our father's career as a tribute to him and the men and women who lost their lives at the WTC.
My sister has a lot of his turnout gear from the fire department, and has a neat display at her house. However, due to a burglary, most of his PD duty gear was taken or damaged beyond repair.
I'm trying to gather police duty gear from that era, but I'm having a hard time finding stuff still in good condition. I could also use some help with the details, to make sure I'm gathering the right equipment.
So, can any of you folks offer suggestions or pointers? I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks,
Michael
