Glad to hear you've at least got a diagnosis. I'd still try to ease off of keyboard and mouse use. Another thing you can try is replacing your mouse with a trackball. For some people that can help quite a bit.

Forget the trackball - replace your mouse with a hamster! :D

Seriously, though... if you touch-type, consider something like the Microsoft Natural keyboard, which is much more ergonomic for wrists and forearms. That might help a lot.

Also, for the guns you shoot a lot, consider Pachmayr Decelerator grips, in the style that best suits your hand. The Decelerator rubber is considerably softer and more "giving" than standard rubber grips, and I've found that they measurably reduce recoil in a heavy-kicking gun. Tip: for your Rossi 720, try grips for a S&W J-frame square butt handgun. You'll have to grind a bit of metal off your grips to fit, but it's not very much.

Thanks for even more good advice!

Have a Past shooting glove on order, am going to make my trial shoot with slowest, lightest round I could find: B.H. 210 grain, 700 fps "cowboy" load.

Doc who quickly and confidently made diagnosis is my family doctor, not an orthopedic type. That, plus flunking the DeQuarvains test administered by the therapist, leaves me still a bit skeptical.

While discomfort ranges from upper part of thumb to a bit below elbow, it's stiffness in thumb that sticks out (no pun intended) in my mind as being most significant symptom.
