I have an 1861 Navy (with 1843 scene on cylinder) .36 cal blued round 7 1/2" barrel with a serial number of 128983. The Uberti 'U' is located by the serial number in its muzzle and sight stamp but no other code initials appear to be present on the piece other than the 'PN' and the star stamp. Any help with the date of mnf. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately serial numbers are not related to dates of manufacture on any of the Italian revolver replicas. The only way to determine dates is to use the two-letter date code in a square box. If that's missing, you're out of luck.

1861 Uberti .36 cal, MNF. date?

Thanks to all for your help. I rechecked under the barrel at the loading lever and identified a 'G' in a hexagon stamp.
The underside of the backstrap has a notch for an extension stock if that is any help in determining age. Handy code chart info, thanks.

"A. Uberti Made in Italy" with date code are sometimes found under the barrel. If it's an older model, the date code could be a Roman Numeral.
Found a 'G' under the barrel at base of the loading lever. It appears to be in a hexagon stamp. No G in mnf code so still SOL. Thanks for the help.
The underside of the backstrap does have a notch for an extension stock if that means anything in determining age.

Why don't you post some photos for us? The fellas here will know where and what to look for.
