New to me. In fact, I haven't laid hands on it. That's the beauty of online auctions.
This one is D&T'd on the receiver in two places; once on the lock up lug area and then again further back on the receiver. Does anyone have any idea of the Weaver base combination that would work for me? I bought a 20A and a 27. The 27 looks like it fits the barrel radius and not the locking lug area. The 20A looks just right. The receiver has a step on the top of it creating a height difference where the bases would mount. I'm sure there are people out there with far more experience with 141's that they would like to pass along. I thank you in advance. Here' s pic of the drill pattern.

My 14 was d/t on the barrel, and receiver. I would take the rifle to a good gunshop, and see if they can match up some bases for you.

Your gun was not factory D&T, so it was intended for whatever the driller had in mind at the time. Many aftermarket scope applications on 14's and 141's involve the barrel for front mount, and many were side mounted. Sounds like you are on the right track, but trial and error may be required.

My 14 has ring base mounted to the barrel and receiver. Maybe you can put some filler screws in those front holes and tap your barrel or find a mixed set to use as is. Maybe you have a gun shop or gunsmith that has a drawer with some loose ends in it and has something for you. Either that or do some machinist work and take off some material on the front one of a matching pair.

According to Midway, the 20A is the rear base. The 27 goes on the front. Oddly enough the Weaver chart Cabela's uses agrees with 'em. About half way down.

The 27 that is listed for the front (which I bought as part of a set from ebay) is cut to fit the radius of the barrel. I'm sure there has got tto be someone here with a 141 with bases mounted on the receiver. I was hoping to make it easy. I picked up the gun today. I took it apart to clean it and the action bar cover was broken. That is not a good thing.

Hopefully, but perhaps not. Most I have seen first hand involved the barrel or were side mounted. One reason for that is the receiver length===>notice how relatively short it is.

Whoever drilled a hole all the way through that receiver in the locking lug area wasn't too bright. It looks like the locking lug is visible. I'm guessing his first name was "Bubba" and he was probably trying to adapt a mount from another gun onto this one. When it didn't work he dumped the gun. Probably safe to fire these guns were chambered for relatively low pressured rounds.

I've seen several of these guns with this same pattern and scopes mounted sucessfuly. Drilling into the barrel right where it takes the highest pressure, for which Weaver designed bases, would be my bigger concern. The locking area of the receiver with a #4 screw hole perpendicular to the force doesn't concern me much.

Bringing this thread back up because I stumbled upon a vintage Weaver paper instruction that shows not only two piece base numbers for various rifles, but also where they are to be mounted. I won't go to the trouble to scan and post it here, but the base positions for pump rifles are indicated by alpha characters E, F, G and H, with E being as far back as possible on the receiver, and H being on the barrel in front of the receiver.

The two positions it calls for mounting on the Remington 14 and 141 are F and H, with F being in the middle of the receiver, and H as previously stated on the barrel. These are the only options Weaver gives for scope mounting on the 14 and 141, with the back mount (receiver) a number 20A and the front (barrel) mount a 27. Hope this helps some.

I went with two #27 bases and a brass shim under the rear I also am using a set of self aligning scope rings. It's not pretty but it puts da boolitts where'n I wants 'em.
