My sister in-law called me Wednesday and asked me if I would help her buy a Uberti SAA revolver for my brother for Christmas . I told her I was not home and I would call her when I got home . Well when I got home she had a message on my answering machine that she didn't need my help anymore , she ordered a Cattleman II from bud's . I told her I didn't know what the Cattleman II was and I would check the difference between the Cattleman and II . I looked to see what the difference was and see that the Cattleman II has a retractable firing pin safety system . I don't like that , but I didn't tell her because she had already placed the order . She called me the next day and told me the gun was at the FFL dealers and asked if I would go with her to pick it up . When we got there I inspected it and found out it doesn't have the 4 clicks anymore and saw that it had the 4.75" barrel . I knew my brother liked my 5.5" barrel so I asked her if that was what he wanted before she filled out the papers . She said she didn't know and went with it . The state police background check was so busy we had to leave and come back Monday because the FFL dealers is working a gun show this weekend . I went on bud's sight today and saw that the gun picture and number were for a 5.5" barrel . So I called her to check her order number and it was for a 5.5" model and not the 4.75" barrel. I told her that FFL dealer had called in her background check , but I didn't know if she could send it back now . I asked Friday if I could pick the gun up for her Monday , since she was working , but the FFL dealer told me no , because she still has something to sign . So I am hoping she can send it back and get the Cattleman now instead of the Cattleman II with the 5.5" barrel .

If Uberti is going to put this firing pin system in all their guns , I for one am not going to buy another Uberti SAA .

It seems the issue is your sister in law ordered the wrong gun not knowing what your brother wanted.

Really? He said:

Sounds very much like she ordered one gun and Bud's sent a different one.

I'd absolutely have her take it up with the dealer. Come with print-outs in hand to show what she really ordered and that it does not jibe with what she paid for. Buds certainly would be expected to make that right.

Be patient with the dealer, though. He's really the one caught in the middle here, as he's not responsible for the problem and is probably making only $20-$30 to deal with crap like this. Smiles and thank-yous will probably put you on a smoother road.

Yeah Sam , I think that's what happened .

I got a shotgun once from bud's and it had a deep 2 inch scratch on the receiver . I sent it back and I will say bud's handled it right and fast . So I hope that if it was their mistake they will do her the same and she can get the Cattleman and get rid of that Cattleman II . She also joined team bud's , that's why she got it so fast .

Second the notion of doing a Secret Santa sort of gift exchange (with a lot of family members we use DrawNames.com). That way everyone involved knows exactly what everyone else wants. And from the way you described the order with Bud's it does sound like they sent the wrong gun. Let us know if they get it all sorted out in time.

She sent bud's a email yesterday since they were not open and they responded today , saying that she could send it back if she did not except transfer , but there would be a 10% restocking fee and $25 dollars shipping fee . They told her that the revolver she wanted was reserved for team bud's members only . I was wondering why she joined team bud's and she remember that was why , so she could get the 5.5" barrel . So I think they made the mistake . She sent them another email saying that .

Gotta watch these jokers on the internet. Hope Buds makes it right

This not the first time on-line sellers will replace one model for another, I think usually an innocent error. My FFL guy always checks the order and has me check it before doing the back ground check. Fortunately it's never happened to me.
